Smith & Wesson Shield Noon Trigger Upgrade Kit
Installing Apex's trigger kit into the Shield is frustrating at all-time. It'south the nature of the beast and not totally Apex's fault. Both the trigger and sear assemblies fit tightly into the chief chassis and require careful parts maneuvering to get installed. First time installers of this kit will need to learn patience and take a several breaks earlier getting this kit installed. Apex does offer an installation service for their kits. Unfortunately, the marginal trigger pre/over travel improvement is insufficient. Because that was the main trouble I was trying to fix I do non think the $144 I spent was a skillful value by a long means. While trigger pull has been reduced from half dozen.5 to v.v pounds, every bit advertised, the pistol is still difficult to shoot accurately. The culprit is excessive over travel that causes cage jerk as the trigger slams against its stop after the firing pin is released. Careful hand/trigger finger placement is critical to shoot the stock Shield with reasonable accuracy and all the same does. It tin can be done just takes lots of practice and likely will be nigh impossible to exercise in a high stress self defense encounter. I sympathize this is a typical double action striker pistol that will never be a target gun. Simply fit and tuning could be a lot better to fix this sloppy OEM trigger. Minimal over travel is what makes the single action 1911 pistols then authentic and such a pleasure to shoot. They volition spoil you. In summary, this kit does smooth trigger activeness considerably. That's mainly due to the replacement Apex firing pin block that is very worthwhile. Exist advised that some careful polishing of the OEM trigger bar where information technology contacts the striker block is recommended to maximize the smoothness of trigger pull. I expect the new sear had a positive consequence but I could not feel whatsoever departure equally my pistol's stock sear had worn in due to considerable use beforehand. Noon'due south replacement solid trigger, with pivoting sear blocking bar, makes trigger installation frustrating at best. This solid trigger eliminates the hinged OEM trigger which some people find objectionable. Notwithstanding, if I were to start over I'd only purchase the Apex striker block/spring and forget the remainder of the kit. If not available from Apex I'd advisedly alter the striker block myself. I would also propose to Apex a trigger pattern change that allows adjustment of over travel every bit each gun volition have different tolerances. They could starting time with a trigger blueprint using set screws similar to the Galloway Precision Sweet Pea LCP Trigger. That solved the muzzle flip issue on my Ruger LCP that was even worse than the Shield.

Noon trigger upgrade for a Thou&P Shield 9mm.
This is the best upgrade you can exercise if you ain a Smith & Wesson Yard&P pistol. Information technology literally makes the trigger pull effortless. No grittiness throughout the pull. Just an awesome update for my M&P Shield 9mm. 5 stars+++. Anyone that owns a S&W Thousand&P pistol should really check to see if Noon has an upgrade for your model. WORTHWHILE UPGRADE!
Although my Performance Eye 40 Shield had a better trigger than the standard units, I went ahead a swapped in an Noon unit. I originally had a v iii/4 pound trigger pull and now it is at four 1/2 pound average with a Lyman digital meter. All of the upgrade kit was utilized except for the stock trigger return spring which is supposed to be 'lighter' than the APEX jump. Trigger is sooo damn smooth at present with a much more solid feel - no plastic feel! I LOVE Information technology!! I highly advise to stone and polish the trigger bar at both ends where metallic to metal contact occurs AND smooth/polish the striker block bore. These are the areas were the manufacturer does not elect to spend time for cost reasons. I think anybody would be difficult pressed to discover a ameliorate trigger kit/modification for the price!
